Situated between Northern California and Nevada lies one of the largest Alpine Lakes in North America. There are two state lines around the lake – one in South Lake Tahoe and the other in Crystal Bay on the North Shore. Lake Tahoe consists of deep waters, soaring mountains, and clear skies, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions.
Best Time to Go?
Lake Tahoe is a popular destination year round. You can do almost every outdoor activity there is – from skiing and snowboarding in the winter, lying on beaches in the summer, and breathing in the clean crisp weather in the fall and spring – there is something for everyone to enjoy. Undoubtedly, the winter season is one of the most beautiful times to visit. From the start of Nov. to late Mar., ski resorts open and welcome those with interest in winter sports. In the summer, starting from June to Sep., visitors can head out for some outdoor activities. Hiking, biking, marinas, campsites, and swimming are ideal activities during the hot summer months. Similarly, the fall season is great for outdoor activities too! Lake Tahoe is welcome to all seasons.
Weather
The climate in Lake Tahoe varies throughout the year. Snow can be expected as early as Oct. and continue all the way through Apri. Dec., Jan., and Feb. typically receive at least 12 inches of snow. During the winter months, you can expect the temperatures to be as high as 45°F and as low as 20°F. While in the summer months, you can expect warm temperatures ranging to as high as 85°F to as low as 40°F. There is also typically no rainfall during these months.
Food and Drinks
Lake Tahoe offers world class culinary and you can expect to find many different types of food. Whether you’re craving from somewhere outdoors, a quiet late spot or a rustic restaurant, Lake Tahoe has everything to satisfy you.
Here are some recommendations:
Ciera Steak + Chophouse: Enjoy the finest cuisine from Ciera Steak and Chop House located at Bally’s Resort. The restaurant serves a large selection of steaks and chops, fresh seafood, vegetarian entrees, and over one hundred wines and champagne.
Primo’s Italian Bistro: Looking for some hidden quiet places? Primo’s has got you covered. With its limited seating and warm atmosphere, it’s a hidden gem that is often passed by.
Riva Grill: Riva Grill not only offers exquisite dining, it offers scenic views of the lakes and mountains. It has a large inside area with a waterfront patio to admire the outdoors. Riva Grill is a premier lake restaurant you wouldn’t want to miss out on.
Whether you are a native to California or just visiting the state, Lake Tahoe is definitely a destination that you should put on your bucket list. I strongly recommend Lake Tahoe for a get-away trip to immerse yourself in the natural scenery.
